Leh Ladakh) [India], Oct 16 (ANI): Amid tensions over construction by the Chinese across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh and the reluctance between the two countries to resolve the remaining issues, Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal V. .R. Chowdhary is reviewing the operational preparedness of the troops deployed there by visiting the forward areas of Ladakh.
The IAF chief had himself flown in MiG-29 fighter jets over the eastern Ladakh sector when he was the chief of the Western Air Command.
He was the head of the Western Air Command (WAC) for a large part of the ongoing standoff with the People’s Liberation Army that lasted from the April-May deadline of last year.
“The Air Force chief reached Leh airbase on Saturday morning and will hold a meeting with Indian Air Force personnel and special forces deployed in forward areas along the Line of Actual Control,” government sources told ANI.
Sources said this is the chief’s first visit to forward areas outside the national capital after taking over as the Air Force chief on October 1.
The Air Force deployed its assets in the Ladakh theater in a very aggressive manner after the Chinese Army started showing its offensive intent on the Eastern Ladakh sector.
“The situation on the Line of Actual Control is that the Chinese Air Force is still present at three LAC air bases. We are fully positioned and prepared from our side,” Chowdhury said during his press conference on October 5. .
The Indian Air Force has an edge over the Chinese Air Force as the latter has problems starting operations from its high-altitude air bases in Ngari Gunsa, Kashgar and Hotan and others that are coming to the region while the Indian Air Force can launch Is. There are many airbases near the Ladakh region and reach places faster than their fighter planes.
In fact, sources said, much of the current preparedness of the Chinese Army across the LAC in the Tibet Autonomous Region is only for dealing with the Indian Air Force.
Looking at the Chinese buildup, the Indian Army has also stepped up its preparations on the northern frontiers as they have now deployed almost the entire Reserve Tank Division, over 50,000 troops and new equipment like K-9 Vajra howitzers to deal with any misadventure. has been deployed.
The Indian Air Force is also deploying assets along the LAC in both the eastern and northern regions acting as force multipliers for the forces. (ANI)
