New Delhi: Spanish footballer Ikar Casillas has announced that he is “gay” and urged people to “respect” him for being a gay person.
The footballer took to Twitter to make the announcement.
It’s just over a year after he and his wife separated.
In March 2021, former goalkeeper Sara Carbonero acknowledged that she and her lover had “chosen separate paths” but would still stay in touch to carry out the “wonderful job” of raising their two children.
In response to the outpouring of support for Casillas, former Spain team-mate Carles Puyol wrote: “Iker, it’s time to share our story.” with the emojis for a kiss and a heart.
He informed his followers via Twitter, but his Instagram and Facebook pages did not carry the same message.
