IMD issues very heavy rain warning for several states through July 27

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rain warning for several states on Sunday, July 27, for the next 2-3 days.

Isolated heavy rains are expected over Karnataka on August 5 and 6, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on August 5, Telangana on August 5-9 and Andhra Pradesh on August 8 and 9. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa are likely to see rain. Between August 7 and 9, there is also a good chance of very heavy rain in Rajasthan and Odisha.

“The monsoon basin at Mediterranean level extends south of its natural location. It will likely continue at the same location for the next two to three days,” IMD said in its latest morning weather bulletin.

“There is cyclonic circulation over inland Odisha and neighboring Chhattisgarh in the lower and middle troposphere levels, which are inclined towards the southwest by elevation,” the weather department added.

Scattered heavy waterfalls, thunderstorms and lightning are very likely over Konkan & Goa on the 24th; Gujarat region on the 24th and 25th; Saurashtra and Kutch in 25; coast of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the period from 24 to 28; It is spread fairly widely over the ghats of Madhya Maharashtra on the 24th and over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karikal on the 26th and 27th of July 2022.

Heavy to very heavy rains are very likely on 24th and 25th and heavy rains during 26th to 28th of July over Telangana.
An isolated heavy fall is very likely over Saurashtra and Kutch on July 24, 2022.

Fairly widespread to widespread precipitation with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms/lightning very likely over Jammu and Kashmir on the 24th; Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the 24th to 28th and has fairly wide precipitation spread over Punjab and Haryana Chandigarh on the 26th; Uttar Pradesh on 27 and 28; Western Rajasthan during the period 24 to 26 and above Eastern Rajasthan during the period 24 to 27 July, 20.
