Isolated heavy rains are expected over Karnataka on August 5 and 6, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on August 5, Telangana on August 5-9 and Andhra Pradesh on August 8 and 9. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa are likely to see rain. Between August 7 and 9, there is also a good chance of very heavy rain in Rajasthan and Odisha.
“The monsoon basin at Mediterranean level extends south of its natural location. It will likely continue at the same location for the next two to three days,” IMD said in its latest morning weather bulletin.
“There is cyclonic circulation over inland Odisha and neighboring Chhattisgarh in the lower and middle troposphere levels, which are inclined towards the southwest by elevation,” the weather department added.
