P. Chidambaram is an Indian politician and former lawyer who is currently a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. He served as president of the Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs from 2017 to 2018.

Chidambaram has served four times as the Union Finance Minister. Most recently, he served in the role of the entirety of the United Progressive Alliance government from 2004 to 2014, except for a three-year period as Home Affairs Minister, during which he oversaw the internal security response of the ‘India in the terrorist attack of 26/11 in Mumbai.

1971: Lyricist Prasoon Joshi is born

Prasoon Joshi is an Indian poet, writer, lyricist, screenwriter and communications and marketing specialist. He is the Group CEO of McCann World India and the Chairman of APAC (Asia Pacific), a subsidiary of global marketing firm McCann Erickson. He was appointed as the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification on 11 August 2017.

1972: Kushan Nandy was born

Kushan Nandy is an Indian film producer, writer and director. He produces films under the banner of the current entertainment house Movies by the Mob. He became an independent television director, went on to make documentaries, music videos and ad films after which he focused on his passion for directing Hindi feature films.

2022: International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

On September 16 of each year, the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is celebrated. It is celebrated to make people aware of the depletion of the ozone layer and to look for possible solutions to preserve it.
