Bringing out the truth in the right way, said that the PM is always in favor of the country. Directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, ‘Kashmir Files’ revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the year 1990.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that there are many subjects like Emergency or Partition of 1975 on which no authentic film was made, as well as more films like ‘Kashmir Files’ need to be made so that people can know the truth.
Instead of criticizing the art or facts of ‘Kashmir Files’, it is being defamed, he said. “Those who always hoist the flag of freedom of expression, they are restless. Instead of reviewing the facts, a campaign is being launched to defame it,” the Prime Minister said.
Addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting before the start of the day’s proceedings in Parliament, PM Modi said that there are a lot of subjects like Emergency or Partition of 1975 on which no authentic film has been made.
He further said that the film has shown the truth which was suppressed for years. “Those who tried to hide the truth are now opposing the film,” he said.
Praising the film, PM Modi said: “Through such films people come to know about the truth and understand who was responsible for any incident in the past. Who exploited or did the right thing, like this films try to project.”
He said, “The Kashmir Files is a very good film. You all should watch it. People need to make more films like Gandhi and Kashmiri Files to know the truth.”
Recently, several BJP-ruled states exempted the film from entertainment tax, with some chief ministers also vehemently supporting the film. On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government had also declared the film tax free.
Released in theaters on March 11, ‘The Kashmir Files’ stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar and others.
