Born on 22 October 1900 in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Khan is said to have grown up when Mahatma Gandhi started the non-cooperation movement and urged Indians not to pay taxes to the government or cooperate with the British.

After Mahatma Gandhi called off the non-cooperation movement after the Chauri Chaura incident in Gorakhpur, where a police station was torched by protesters, many youths of the country, including Khan, were left disappointed.

Many people know Ashfaq Ullah Khan for the 1925 Kakori train robbery, which he led along with Ram Prasad Bismil, leader of the revolutionary group Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) during India’s independence movement.

Their story is depicted in the 2006 Bollywood film ‘Rang De Basanti’, which follows the lives of five youths who starred in a documentary film about five revolutionaries, one of whom was Ashfaqullah Khan, played by actor Kunal Kapoor. Is.

Ashfaqullah Khan was sentenced to death in the Kakori conspiracy case trial. He was hanged on 19 December 1927.
