New Delhi: India manager Rahul Dravid may not be able to take part in the upcoming 2022 Asian Cup after his COVID-19 tests came back positive. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has to consider whether VVS Laxman should be sent to the UAE in place of the head coach.

“Dravid’s symptoms are mild. So we will wait and decide later whether we need to send VVS Laxman as his replacement or not. Laxman is already in Harare and they are due to fly to Dubai today. We can ask Laxman to stay in Dubai for a few more days while Dravid’s situation is resolved. We asked Dravid to undergo another test,” a BCCI official said.

India kick off their Asian Cup campaign on August 28 with a clash against arch-rivals Pakistan. In the last encounter with the team, India suffered a 10-wicket loss and the Men in Blue would definitely want to change that.
