India on Saturday reported 19,740 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 2,36,643; Lowest in seven months (206 days).

New Delhi: India reported on Saturday 19,740 New COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload 2,36,643; Shortest in seven months (206 days). According to the data updated at 8 am, the death toll has risen to 4,50,375 with 248 new deaths.

With 23,070 patients being cured in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number of patients who have been cured since the start of the pandemic is 3,32,48,291. As a result, India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.98 per cent, which is currently at its highest peak since March 2020, the ministry reported.


12,69,291 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of tests to over 58.13 crore (58,13,12,481).


According to the ministry, with the increased testing capacity across the country, the weekly positivity rate of 1.62 per cent is less than 3 per cent for the last 106 days. The daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.56 per cent and has remained below 3 per cent for the last 40 days and below 5 per cent for 123 consecutive days.


The cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage of India is around 94 crore with over 79.12 lakh (79,12,202) doses administered in the last 24 hours, the ministry informed.
