India sees massive jump in COVID-19 cases with 22,775 new infections, 406 deaths


New Delhi: India on Saturday reported 22,775 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 days, a jump for the fourth day that pushed the country’s coronavirus tally to 3,48,61,579. According to the Union Health Ministry, the total cases of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 cases have risen to 1,431 with Maharashtra and Delhi reporting 454 and 351 cases respectively.

Active cases are 1,04,781. With 406 COVID deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative death toll due to the virus has risen to 4,81,486.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 13,420 cases in a 24-hour period. 8,949 recoveries were also recorded in the country today

Under the nationwide vaccination campaign, more than 145.16 crore vaccine doses have been given so far.
