Captain Mandhana played significant innings and scored 47 runs while opener Jemimah Rodrigues remained unbeaten in 35 innings. Shafali Verma contributed 55 runs.
India’s openers played a brilliant game as they managed 96 runs for the opener before the Mandarin came back at the end of 12 overs. Verma followed her after some excesses. While Richa Ghosh faced an early exit for just 4 runs.
Winning captain Mandhana said, “It was disappointing in the last match. It’s good to come back from that defeat, very proud of the girls. It was a total team performance today. Shafali batted well, and also Jemimah bowled well. We could have scored 10 more runs while batting. We had to keep bowling and wait for their batsmen to make mistakes, which they did. Our bowlers bowled very well.” .
Bangladesh fail to score 160
Fargama Hoque scored 30 runs while Nigar Sultana scored 36 runs. Murshida Khatun managed only 21 runs and other Bangladeshi players could not get into double digits.
After losing the match, the Bangladesh captain said, “In the powerplay we didn’t play well, we made too many loose balls. We also couldn’t get many runs in our powerplay. Our main players couldn’t execute their plans. However, we were unable to capitalize on the loose deliveries when we were batting. Rumana came in later, to commit to the runaways leaked by the bowlers in the powerplay.”
