Indian Railways will run 211 special trains for Chhath Puja

New Delhi: Indian Railways will run 211 special trains and 2561 journeys for Chhath Puja this year to help passengers, the Ministry of Railways said in a statement on Tuesday.

Special trains are designed to connect major destinations across the country on railway routes like Darbhanga, Azamgarh, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Firozpur, Patna, Katihar and Amritsar etc.

Indian Railways has announced 32 additional special services to ensure smooth and comfortable travel of passengers this festive season, while 179 special services were announced earlier, the statement said.

The ministry had previously announced 179 special trains, of which 2269 trips. They were meant to connect major destinations across the country on rail routes like Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Bhagalpur, Delhi-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Saharsa.

Police officers sent to the emergency department

Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at major stations to ensure the safety of passengers. Linemen have been sent to emergency duty at major stations to ensure the smooth running of trains.

“May I help you” booths are kept operational at important stations where RPF personnel and TTEs are responsible for providing proper assistance and guidance to passengers. On-call medical teams are available at large stations with an ambulance and a first aid team.

Potential abuses – such as seat bending, overcharging and advertising, etc. – are monitored and strictly monitored. Crowd control measures are ensured by forming queues at terminal stations under the supervision of RPF personnel for the regular arrival of passengers on unreserved buses, the statement states.
