Washington [US]: Photo and video-sharing social networking platform Instagram has unveiled a week of product launches with the announcement of Collabs, a new feature that lets two users jointly share ownership of a single Feed post or reel.

According to The Verge, tomorrow, it will follow this up by testing a new way to add a nonprofit fundraiser to a post, and finally, on Thursday it will do so on desktop—with the ability to create photo and video posts. Will roll out the capability to launch together. New music-focused effects for the reels. The new Collabs feature effectively allows two accounts to co-author a post or reel. The post or reel will appear jointly to each user’s followers and share the same comment thread, as well as the number of views and likes.

Collabs are enabled from the tagging screen, after which the other account must accept the invite.

The service will also roll out the ability for users to post photos and videos from the desktop browser on Thursday after limited testing earlier this year.

This may sound like a very basic feature that’s only coming to desktop now, but Instagram’s desktop functionality lags far behind what’s historically been possible on its apps. For example, it only added DMs to the browser last year.

Lastly, there are a few smaller features coming this week as well. Starting tomorrow, Instagram will begin testing a new way to create fundraisers in posts, which will be accessible after tapping the ‘+’ button at the top right of its interface.

A pair of new music-focused features are also coming to the reels on Thursday. Superbeat adds effects to the beat of a song in a video, while dynamic and 3D lyrics provide a more interesting way to display song lyrics during a video, as per The Verge. (ANI)
