Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 14 (ANI): An electric inter-city bus service from Pune to Mumbai and vice versa was launched on Wednesday.
According to a press release, the “Puribus” service launched by MEIL Group company eWeTrans Pvt Ltd will start its operations from October 15 on the occasion of Dussehra.
To curb pollution, the state and central government are encouraging the adoption of electric buses in the public transport system under the FAME I and FAME 2 policy initiatives.
Commenting on the benefits of the newly launched “Puribus”, Sandeep Raizada, General Manager, EVTrans said, “We are proud and humbled to be the first to launch inter-city e-bus services in India. Puribus can cover up to 350. kilometers on a single charge with zero-emissions, making it an option for inter-city travel operators, thereby saving in the long run.”
The 12 meter long Puribus has a seating capacity of 45 plus one driver and one co-driver. The bus is also equipped with a television and infotainment system with Wi-Fi. It also has a panic alarm system and emergency lighting system for emergency alerts. (ANI)]]>
