Ashwin and Morgan exchanged heated words after being dismissed by Tim Southee in the last over of the DC innings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Dubai: Former Australian ace spinner Shane Warne has reprimanded him for his altercation with Delhi Capitals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. KKR captain Eoin Morgan During his IPL match on Tuesday, he described the former’s on-the-field behavior as ‘disrespectful’.
Ashwin and Morgan exchanged heated words after being dismissed by Tim Southee in the last over of the DC innings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. DC skipper Rishabh Pant and Ashwin took the second off the last ball of the 19th over and it seemed that the KKR outfit was irked as some consider it against the guidelines of fair play when the ball is bowled. The fielder ricochets off the batsman.
“The world shouldn’t be divided on this topic and Ashwin. It’s too simple – it’s shameful and it should never happen. Why does Ashwin have to be that guy again? I guess @Eoin16 He had every right to nail it!!!!” Shane Warne tweeted.
It was Dinesh Karthik, the wicketkeeper-batsman of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who revealed the reason behind the controversy.
“I know Rahul Tripathi bowled the ball and it hit Rishabh Pant and then it overpowered him and Ashwin started running. I don’t think Morgan appreciates it, he is someone when the ball hits the batsman. It’s a very gray area, a very interesting topic. I have my own opinion on it but all I can say is that I’m going to play the role of a peacemaker. I am happy and things have settled down nicely for now.” Karthik during the post-match virtual press conference.
