Mumbai: KL Rahul-led Lucknow Supergiants have defeated Surisers Hyderabad by 12 runs in a game powered by both, batter and bowlers. Put to bat first, LSG put 169 runs on boards with the major contribution from skipper Rahul (68) and Deepak Hooda (51). Though, other batters of the team need to work upon themselves a lot and this game will serve as a lesson for them but the bowlers compensated for them.

Avesh Khan’s four-wicket haul is the most significant spell for LSG as it broke pressure off them every-time it was needed. Starting with Williamson (16) in 3rd over, Abhishek (13) in 5th and two wickets, Nicholas Pooran (34) and Abdul Samad (0) in 17th over brought joy at different intervals of the game. It was then complemented by three-wicket haul of Jason Holder in a single over. Holder’s three dismissals in 19th over can be the highlight of the game to show what a great bowling looks like.

10:35 PM: Rahul Tripathi has contributed 44 runs in the chase of 170 runs for his side after opener failed to give a strong start. Krunal Padya made Tripathi his 2nd victim of the innings in the 13th over.

10:21 PM: Krunal Pandya has dismissed Aiden Markram for 12 runs in the tenth over.

9:55 PM: Avesh Khan has sent back another Supergiant of Lucknow on the first ball of the fifth over. Abhishek Sharma, who scored 13 runs in 11 deliveries had to go back to the dressing, a little disappointed as his side has a huge target to chase.

9:48 PM: Williamson has to go back early for 16 runs after 3.3 overs. Avesh Khan became the first bowler of LSG to strike.

9:32 PM: Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson open for SRH in the chase of 170 runs.

9:18 PM, Innings Break : KL Rahul-led LSG has put 169 runs on board to chase for SRH.

9:10 PM: LSG skipper KL Rahul players a captain’s innings as he scored 68 runs off 50 deliveries to support his team in crucial times. T Natrajan removed Rahul on the first ball of the 18th over to prevent an even higher sum total on board for SRH to chase. 3 balls later Krunal Pandya suffered the attack of Natrajan as he was hit directly in the stumps.

8:49 PM: Deepak Hooda has done exactly what LSG needed at this point after losing three early wickets cheaply. Hooda hit half-century to shoulder his side in the need of the hour. His partnership with skipper KL Rahul is a significant one as the other batters went back to the dressing for a single digit score. LSG is currently at 114 at the loss of 4 wickets after 15.1 overs.

7:53 PM: Shepherd made Manish Pandey his first victim in the game after 4.5 overs. His ball went in the air, only to land in the hands of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

7:48 PM: Washington Sundar struck again, this time to dispatch Evin Lewis. After 3.1 overs, Lewis had to go back after the ball hit on his pads, without touching the bat.

7:38 PM: Sunrisers Hyderabad has started strong against Kl Rahul-led Lucknow Supergiants as Washington Sundar dismisses Quinton de Kock for 1 run on the 10th ball of the game.

7:00 PM: Kane Williamson has won the toss and opted to bowl first against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Supergiants.

“We are gonna have a bowl. We did take the conditions into account, we have seen similarities in number of the early matches and trying to get something from the surface first up and maybe some dew later on. We are playing the same team. It’s good (elbow injury) and nice to be out here playing, looking forward to the game today,” said Williamson after the toss.

“We wanted to bowl first as well, that has been the trend. We have one change. Holder comes in for Chameera. With the new ball you always try and hit that good area really assess what the pace is on that particular wicket and we obviously do a bit of homework before the game and it all comes down to the execution. We picked Jason in the auction because he is a top all-rounder going around in the world,” said KL Rahul after losing the toss.

“He can swing the new ball and do some damage at the back end as well. Both games the lower and middle order have done well and that gives us confidence to go hard at the top. For a youngster (Ayush Badoni) to out there and get the job done for the team, to really stay calm and back his game is really good to see. Fingers crossed, he can continue the same form and keep doing the damage for us at the back end of the innings,” he added.
