Iran is said to be building hypersonic ballistic missiles

New Delhi: Iran has developed a supersonic ballistic missile, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, in remarks that are sure to raise concerns about Iran’s missile capability.

“This missile has a high speed and can move in and out of the atmosphere. It targets the enemy’s advanced anti-missile systems and is a big generational leap in the field of missiles,” Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh said.

Supersonic missiles have a complex trajectory and can travel at least five times the speed of sound, making them challenging to intercept.

Although Iran has grown its domestic arms sector as a result of international restrictions and embargoes, Western military analysts claim that Iran occasionally exaggerates its military capabilities. However, there have been no reports of such a missile being tested by Iran.

However, the US decision to withdraw from the nuclear agreement Tehran signed with the world powers in 2015 was made in 2018 by then-President Donald Trump, which was partly due to Iran’s ballistic missile program.

Iran reported this week that it is testing the Ghaem 100 aircraft, a first-of-its-kind three-stage space launch vehicle capable of carrying 80-kilogram satellites to a distance of 500 kilometers from the planet’s surface, according to official media. .

Because it believes that launch vehicles can be used to carry nuclear warheads into space, the United States has labeled such operations “destabilizing.” Iran denies that it aims to develop nuclear weapons.
