An Iraqi military statement said a child and a woman were injured in a rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad.

The statement did not elaborate on the details of the attack, but did say that a rocket was dropped on a school. It did not say whether it was a rocket that injured the woman and the child. The attack happened on Thursday night.

The area is important to the US diplomatic mission as well as the Iraqi government. According to a security official, two missiles landed on the premises of the US embassy. Another missile hit a nearby school.

The rocket attack comes after the second anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iran, which killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Let us tell you, this is the first attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad this year. Last Thursday there were a series of attacks on US troops in Syria and Iraq.

The US military said a car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruitment center in Kisak, west of Mosul. Let us tell you that since the death of Iranian General Kasil Soleimani, some of these groups have attacked American soldiers several times.
