New Delhi: Just like any other ranch kid, Ishan was influenced by the charm of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In an interview, Kishan said he wants to “fill his shoes”.

Indian wicketkeeper batsman Kishan hails from the same place as Dhoni, Ranchi in Jharkhand. The 24-year-old also features as Dhoni in the Indian team’s wicketkeeping. This inspired the young lad to dream big and do something big in international cricket.

Ishan Kishan made a remarkable impression on his career and was given a place in the XI. After Dhoni retired from international cricket, there was a constant battle for the wicket-keeper batsman’s place in the team.

Ishan Kishan is now focused on cementing his place in the Indian team.

“My favorite cricket idol growing up was MS Dhoni. I am from the same place, I also play in Jharkhand. I really wanted to fill his shoes. And now that I am here, I will make sure that I help my team win many matches,” Kishan said in a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“The only autograph I got was from MS Dhoni when I was 18 and finally met him for the first time. I am very proud to have his autograph on my bat,” added Kishan.

Ahead of the first T20 series against New Zealand, BCCI posted a video on Twitter of Ishan Kishan sharing memorable moments of his life.
