Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday conceded defeat to Benjamin Netanyahu, congratulating him on his “victory” after Tuesday’s national elections.
“Prime Minister Lapid congratulated opposition leader Netanyahu on his victory in the elections and told him that he has instructed his entire office to prepare an organized transfer of power,” a statement from Lapid’s office said, according to AFP.
Born in Tel Aviv in 1949, Netanyahu is the longest-serving prime minister in the country’s history.
