Jammu&Kashmir: NIA busts Pakistan-backed terrorists, over ground workers in major crackdown

The NIA has arrested 21 terrorists and their accomplices since October 12 in the Jammu and Kashmir terror conspiracy case. Eight were arrested on Friday, while 13 were arrested earlier. NIA has conducted raids at 55 places so far.

New Delhi: In a major crackdown against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at several places in the UT in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir terrorism conspiracy case.

The NIA has arrested 21 terrorists and their accomplices since October 12 in the Jammu and Kashmir terror conspiracy case. Eight were arrested on Friday, while 13 were arrested earlier. NIA has conducted raids at 55 places so far.

According to IGP (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar, 15 terrorists have been killed so far in two weeks.

According to the premier probe agency, various banned terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and other similar organizations and their allies The Cadre Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) including those involved in conspiracy to carry out violent acts in Jammu and Kashmir and other major cities of the country.

In the past few days, several civilians have been killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, triggering panic in the Valley.

10 October: The NIA had started investigation by registering the case till October 10.

12 October: The NIA arrested four accused in the case – Waseem Ahmed Sofi, Tariq Ahmed Dar, Bilal Ahmed Mir and Tariq Ahmed Bafunda – during raids at 16 places in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, Pulwama and Shopian districts.

13 October: The NIA arrested five terrorist operatives in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir terror conspiracy case during fresh raids at two places in Srinagar. The arrested people have been identified as Mohammad Hanif Chiralu, Hafeez, Owais Dar, Matin Bhat and Arif Farooq Bhat. During its raids at two places in Srinagar, the NIA said that it has seized electronic equipment and jihadi documents.

20 October: On October 20, the NIA had raided 11 places in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the conspiracy of terrorism. The searches were conducted in Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Awantipora, Sopore and Kulgam.

The NIA said, “Preliminary investigation has revealed that the five arrested accused are terrorist associates and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of various banned terrorist organizations and are involved in providing logistical support to terrorists and helping them to carry out terrorist activities. played an important role in this.”

“Terrorist affiliates or OGWs of various terrorist organizations are conspiring with their masters and commanders based in the neighboring country and also to radicalize local youth with the aim of recruiting and training them in the handling of arms, ammunition and explosives.
