Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], 14 October (ANI): In yet another important step towards furthering the Japan-Odisha industrial partnership, a goal-oriented seminar session was held between Industry, MSME and Energy industry representatives from the Government of Japan and Odisha under the chairmanship of Capt. The seminar focused on exploring the possibilities of new Japanese investments in Odisha.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister Capt. Mishra said, “Japan has been a valuable partner of India and Odisha. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, our state is committed to forging an enduring relationship with Japan, both in the industrial and cultural spheres.”
“Many Odia people have made Japan their home. Japanese people and artists like Masako Ono have become part of Odisha’s culture,” Mishra said.
Addressing the seminar, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said, “Industrial cooperation with Japan has been very successful over the years. Japanese investors like ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steels, TRL Krosaki have achieved great success in Odisha State, Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, it is now a preferred destination for investment. The machinery of the state is very fast in handling and facilitating the investors.”
Mohapatra said, “Officers working at different levels from state to district, tehsil and block are part of Odisha’s growth story and we will ensure all kinds of proactive support to Japanese investors from initiation to commissioning, not only Will also ensure for their continued smooth functioning”.
Addressing the seminar, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary, Government of India, said, “The case for Japanese investment in Odisha is well made. Strong infrastructure, strong political will and efficient bureaucracy coupled with natural resources are the great strengths of Odisha. “
He said that the Government of India would provide all necessary assistance for successful investment in Odisha.
Presenting Odisha as the land of opportunities, Principal Secretary Industries Hemant Kumar Sharma said, Odisha has been a pioneer state in attracting investments for its natural resources, ease of doing business and facilitating legal framework. “Industry and service sector are the two big sectors which contribute about 80% of the GDP of the states”, he said.
In addition, Sharma outlined the potential for Japanese investments in steel, steel downstream, aluminum downstream, chemicals, petrochemicals, seafood processing, electronics and automobile manufacturing.
Sharma also explained the entire process of approval and commissioning of industries through Go-Swift portal and Single Window System. “The state’s single window system is first of its kind, and it assists industries throughout their investment life-cycle”, he said.
The Japanese delegation, led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India, Satoshi Suzuki, came to Odisha. Addressing the seminar, Suzuki appreciated the support extended by the Government of Odisha to Japanese investors over the years. He hoped that the recent industrial and developmental boom in the state would be more helpful in realizing new Japanese investments in the state.
Chairman, Managing Directors and CEOs of industry leaders such as Accelor Mittal, Nippon Steel, TRL Krosaki, Tata Group, Aditya Birla, Indo-Nisin Foods, Reliance and Mind Tree share their experiences in Odisha with a potential Japanese investor Did it These industry icons greatly appreciated the legal framework within which the Odisha government operates, single-window clearance in the true sense of the word, bureaucracy enabling industry, industrial peace, political stability, strong infrastructure, rail, highways. , air and port connectivity etc. Around ten seminars were attended by potential investors from large industrial houses of Japan and interacted with senior officials of Odisha.
The program was conducted by MD IPICOL Bhupinder Singh Poonia. Senior officials from Industry, MSME and other concerned departments participated in the deliberations. (ANI)
