Kanpur: A Kanpur businessman died on Wednesday after he was allegedly attacked by policemen during a raid at a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur. Four serious injury marks were found on his body – right hand, wrist, middle of the head and on the eyelid.
A case of murder has been registered against six policemen in this case. Gorakhpur DM Vijay Kiran Anand said that the policemen arrested on the charge of murder include JN Singh, Sub-Inspector Vijay Yadav and Phalmandi police station in-charge Akshay Mishra. On Tuesday, the officials suspended the policemen, including the Ramgarhtal SHO, and handed over the investigation to the Superintendent of Police.

According to the police, on Monday night, Ramgarhtal police found that three people were staying on the ID of Chandan Saini of Mahadeva Bazar in Sikriganj area of Gorakhpur. On being suspicious, he went to the room where Manish Gupta was with his two friends Pradeep Chauhan and Hari Chauhan.

Gupta’s wife Meenakshi has alleged that her husband died due to police beating. She had refused to accept her husband’s body after the post-mortem, insisting that a case be registered against the policemen involved in the raids first.
After this Meenakshi shared a video and demanded justice and support from the people to get justice for her dead husband. He also accused the police and hotel staff of hiding. “My husband was murdered in that hotel, he was killed by a policeman. Even though my husband was covered in blood, there was no blood at the scene. Two of his friends said there was blood everywhere, but in the hotel room. The staff cleaned it up,” she said.
