Karnataka adds 8,449 new COVID cases, up 68% from yesterday; Bengaluru alone sees 6,812 infections


Bangalore: Karnataka has reported 8,449 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours. Fresh infections in the state are 68 percent more than yesterday.

Most of the fresh cases were reported from Bengaluru Urban. The state capital has reported 6,812 cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours.

Districts reporting new COVID-19 cases include – Mysore (219), Dakshina Kannada (211), Belagavi (114).

The state’s COVID-19 positivity rate now stands at 4.15 per cent.

There are a total of 30,113 active cases of coronavirus in the state.

Seen in the last 24 hours, 505 patients were cured of COVID-19. With this the total recovery in the state has gone up to 29,62,548.

In Karnataka, 2,03,260 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking a total of over 5.73 crore samples.

According to the state health department data, 3,44,917 vaccine doses were administered in Karnataka on Friday.
