Thrissur: A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to triple life imprisonment in Kerala for raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl in 2015. While pronouncing the verdict, the Kunnamkulam fast track court for POCSO cases also imposed a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh.
The incident took place at Thalikulam near Vadanapalli in Thrissur district. Doshi Kutambarath Krishnankutty, a resident of Thalikulam, used to sell fish at his house. The court said that the convict does not deserve any sympathy and he will not be given parole.
According to Special Public Prosecutor KS Benoy, the convict raped the minor living in the neighborhood when she had gone to buy fish from him at his house. The accused raped the girl by forcibly taking her inside the house.
The minor became pregnant and later gave birth to a child. The DNA test report revealed that Krishnankutty was the biological father of the child.
When the minor’s family came to know that she was pregnant, they threw her out of the house. She gave birth to a newborn in the children’s home.
The prosecutor said the DNA test was done specifically after the accused allegedly attempted to blame another person for the girl’s pregnancy.
During the trial, 25 witnesses were presented on behalf of the prosecution and 23 documents and scientific evidence were presented in the court.
