Opposition MLA Dr MK Munir had moved an adjournment motion in the state assembly demanding discussion on a semi-high speed rail project called the K-Rail project. Opposition members demanded a discussion on the project and its environmental impact.
Regarding this, Vijayan said, “It takes 16 hours to travel from one end of the state to the other. This project will help in completing the journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod within four hours. The project will improve the overall infrastructure sector. will improve.”
“The project is expected to cost Rs 63,941 crore and we will have to acquire 1,383 hectares of land for rehabilitation. Out of this, 1,198 hectares is private and the cost of acquiring this land is Rs 13,362.32 crore. Kerala Infrastructure Investments The Treasury Board (KFIIB) has set aside a total amount of Rs 2,100 crore for land acquisition.The central government has allowed the state government to go ahead with land acquisition and the railway board has given in-principle approval to the project.
Following the chief minister’s clarification, Speaker MB Rajesh refused to allow an adjournment motion, prompting opposition members to walk out of the state assembly. (ANI)
