New Delhi: India has recorded 18,870 new COVID-19 infections and 378 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday. Of the 18,870 cases across India, 11,196 cases were reported in Kerala. With 378 deaths, the total death count has gone up to 4,47,751, the ministry said.
In a major development, India’s Covid caseload has come down to below 3 lakhs. Till now, the total number of active cases stands at 2,82,520, which is the lowest in the last 194 days. Active cases account for less than 1 per cent of the total cases, which currently stands at 0.84 per cent, the lowest since March 2020.

India’s recovery rate currently stands at 97.83 percent, which is the highest since March 2020.
15,04,713 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the total cumulative tests so far in the country to 56,74,50,185.
The country has also given 87.66 crore vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign.
The cumulative number of COVID vaccine doses administered so far in the country has reached 87,66,63,490, out of which 54,13,332 were administered in the last 24 hours. This has been achieved through 85,33,076 sessions.
Meanwhile, the global coronavirus caseload has topped 232.7 million, according to Johns Hopkins University, while deaths have exceeded 4.76 million and vaccinations have exceeded 6.14 billion.
