The protest in Lucknow was part of the Congress’s nationwide silent protest against the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in which eight people, including four farmers, lost their lives.

Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) also called for a state-wide bandh on Monday to protest the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the violence on October 3. The Uttar Pradesh Police has so far arrested three people including Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni.

“Minister of State Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra has been sent on three-day police remand with conditions,” prosecution counsel SP Yadav said today.

This comes ahead of the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. (ANI)
