Let ‘hybrid’ militant arrested in J&K’s Awantipora: Police


Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday that security forces arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba “hybrid militant” in south Kashmir’s Awantipora district.

The militant was arrested by joint forces at the Ladoo Awantipora checkpoint.

“During a naka check in Ladoo Awantipora, police and security forces arrested a hybrid terrorist linked to banned terrorist outfit Let and found incriminating material in his possession, including a grenade,” a police spokesman said, according to news agency UNI.

– During the preliminary investigation, it turned out that the arrested hybrid terrorist was in close contact with LeT commanders and participated in the transportation of weapons and ammunition, the spokesman added.

Police said a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Khrew police station and further investigation has been started.

A term coined by the police, “hybrid terrorist” refers to a person who slips back into normal life and has no police record.
