Senior Congress leader and former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh turned 89 on Sunday.
As former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh turns 86 today, Twitter is flooded with well wishes for one of the country’s most illustrious economists.
On his birthday, his party, Congress dedicated several posts on Twitter to the Rajya Sabha MP to congratulate the renowned economist.
In a tweet, the Congress said that Dr Manmohan Singh’s words exemplify the vision of a true Indian leader. Today, as the Congress celebrates his birthday, the country reiterates its commitment to uphold the idea of India.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi tweeted that Singh’s unbridled commitment to India’s progress – from the time she was finance minister to prime minister – has benefited every Indian on an unimaginable scale.

Manmohan Singh is an Indian economist, academic and politician who served as the 13th Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. He was also the first prime minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to be re-elected after completing a full five-year term.
Singh’s term as Prime Minister ended in 2014, when the BJP won the general election that year under the leadership of his successor and incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
