Chandigarh: Months ahead of the much-awaited assembly elections in Punjab, former state chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday said he wants to oust both the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab.

Speaking at News24 Conclave – Manthan 2021 Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh said, “I want to wipe out both Congress and SAD in Punjab.”

Earlier this month, Amarinder Singh submitted his resignation to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and even highlighted the reasons for withdrawing from the party.

Asked if his party would forge an alliance with the Congress, Amarinder Singh said, “They (Congress) don’t want me, why do I want them.”

Earlier at the conclave, Amarinder Singh ruled out any possibility of an alliance with any political party other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), given the condition that he must first find a solution to the ongoing peasant movement.

Singh further said, “Once the farmers’ issue is over, we will settle seats with the BJP.”
