Massive fire in Gandhi Nagar, one killed


New Delhi: Delhi Police has recovered the body of a 19-year-old boy trapped in a shop during a fire in Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar textile market on Wednesday.

The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) was inspecting the site on Thursday when it found the burnt body on the second floor of the four-storey shop.

However, the police have identified the deceased as Shahnawaz who used to work at the shop.

A massive fire broke out inside a shop in Gandhi Nagar textile market on Wednesday evening. Within minutes the fire spread to other shops.

There was no water source nearby, due to which DFS reached the spot with 35 fire tenders.

Earlier, SK Dua, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Service said, “The fire was declared as medium category. A total of 28 fire engines are engaged. The fire is now under control; confined to the upper floors. ,
