Mayawati alleges atrocities committed against weaker sections every day in UP, targets BJP govt

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday hit out at the BJP government ahead of the crucial assembly polls, saying, “No day goes by when atrocities are not committed against people from weaker sections in the state (Uttar Pradesh).” He highlighted the struggle of Dr BR Ambedkar for the upliftment of Dalits and minorities.

“Not a day goes by when atrocities are not committed against people from weaker sections in the state. We do not see many media reports on such incidents. The state government knows how to manage the media.”

The BSP chief further alleged that due to the apathy of the casteist governments at the Center and in the states, the backward class people are not able to take advantage of the benefits given to them in the constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar.

“Dr. BR Ambedkar fought for the upliftment of Dalits, Adivasis, Backward Classes, Minorities and the downtrodden. Due to the apathy of the casteist governments at the Center and in the states, today they are not able to take advantage of the benefits given in the constitution drafted by them. are,” she said.

Born on April 14, 1891, Babasaheb Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination towards untouchables (Dalits) and supported the rights of women and workers. He died on 6 December 1956.

In 1990, Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
