New Delhi: Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador plans to submit a written proposal to the United Nations to establish a commission of three world leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to promote a global truce for five years, the MSN web portal reported.

“I will make a proposal in writing, I will present it to the UN. I have said it and I hope the media will help us spread it. Because they do not speak when it is not convenient for them,” MSN quoted Obrador as saying at a press conference.

According to the Mexican president’s proposal, the Supreme Committee should include Pope Francis, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The aim of the commission would be to draw up a plan to end the world’s conflicts and reach a consensus on the need for a ceasefire of at least five years.

“The three of them will meet and soon present a proposal to end war everywhere and agree on a truce of at least five years, so that governments around the world will devote themselves to their peoples, especially the people who are suffering the most from war and its effects; that we will have five years without tension, without violence and at peace”, he said.

Mexico’s president has encouraged China, Russia and the United States to work for peace, calling for an end to belligerent behavior, hoping that the three nations will “listen and accept the kind of mediation we are proposing.”

“Tell them they have caused this with their confrontations in a year. They have polluted the world economic crisis, increased inflation and caused food shortages, more poverty, and worst of all, in one year, so many people have lost their lives due to clashes. That’s about it. That’s what they are. made in one year,” MSN quoted him as saying.
