Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar tests positive for COVID-19

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister (MEA) Dr S Jaishankar has tested positive for COVID-19. The BJP MP, who previously served as Foreign Secretary from January 2015 to January 2018, shared the news on Twitter and urged everyone to exercise caution.

Sharing a brief message on Twitter, Dr. S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs (EAM), wrote, “Covid test positive. Urge all those who have come in contact recently to take appropriate precautions.”

The news came hours after the Indian External Affairs Minister reaffirmed the strong strategic ties between India and France and said that this diplomatic relationship has matured and now is an opportune time to take it to the next level.

Jaishankar was speaking at a virtual event titled “The French Presidency: EU-India Partnership in the Indo Pacific.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs (MoHFW) Kovid-19 update on Thursday morning, India reported 2,86,384 (2 lakh 86 thousand 3 hundred 84) new coronavirus cases and 573 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry said that the COVID-19 test positivity rate in the last 24 hours rose sharply to 19.59 percent from 16.16 percent on Wednesday.
