Mulayam Singh Yadav tried to counsel Aparna Yadav: SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on sister in-law joining BJP

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday that his father and SP founder (Mulayam Singh Yadav) tried to talk to Aparna Yadav (Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law) over her decision to join the BJP.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) tried to convince him.

Aparna Yadav, wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son Prateek Yadav, joined the BJP on Wednesday.

Akhilesh Yadav also said, “I want to congratulate Aparna Yadav and wish her all the best. Also, I am happy that the ideology of Samajwadi Party is spreading/expanding. I believe That the ideology of SP reaches there (in BJP) and works towards saving the Constitution and democracy.”

Akhilesh also thanked the BJP for giving tickets to political workers to whom his party (Samajwadi Party) was unable to allot seats to contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

After joining BJP, Aparna Yadav said, ‘I am very thankful to BJP. For me the country always comes first. I admire the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, Aparna praised several developmental initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also donated Rs 11 lakh for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

He also expressed his support for the National Register of Citizens, contrary to the stand of the Samajwadi Party. Aparna Yadav also supported the abolition of Article 370.

In 2017, Aparna contested from Lucknow Cantt constituency on a Samajwadi Party ticket, but lost to Rita Bahuguna Joshi of the BJP.

Voting for 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. Counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on March 10.
