NCPCR seeks report kids’ death; food poisoning suspected


New Delhi: Taking note of the incident at the private orphanage in Tiruppur, the National Commission for Child Rights (NCPCR) has asked the Tamil Nadu state secretary to submit an action report within 48 hours.

In the incident in Tiruppur district, three children died while 8 other patients fell ill after allegedly consuming the food.

According to media reports, two children were found dead in their hostel room, and one died on the way while being taken to the hospital.

“Food poisoning is suspected, but the exact cause will only be revealed after the clinical examination of the samples. A case has been registered against the private management of the orphanage,” said Collector Vineeth.

All children were taken to hospital where they are being treated. Meanwhile, three were shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as their health deteriorated.
