New Delhi: Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is making the headlines once again and not for good reasons. American model Catherine Mayorga against the US judge’s decision to dismiss the civil lawsuit against him.
The 37-year-old model publicly accused the attacker of rape in 2017. She claimed that Ronaldo raped her in a hotel room in 2009.
The case was settled out of court for £275,000 when the Portuguese denied the rape claim and made the payment.
However, Mayorga wants to cancel this settlement and seek damages of 54 million euros. It is appealing the decision of US District Judge Jennifer Dorsey.
It has been confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not face any charges but the civil case could result in damages being paid if Mayorga’s appeal is successful.
