On Friday, petrol price in Mumbai was Rs 106.31, Kolkata Rs 106.03, New Delhi Rs 96.72 and Chennai Rs 102.63. Again, this is a relief for common people.
International market impact
In the international market, the price of crude oil has continuously decreased in recent days. The price of WTI crude oil per barrel fell to $85.61, and the price of Brent crude oil fell to $91.63 per barrel.
The government reduced the excise tax on May 21. The excise duty on petrol has been reduced by Rs 8 per liter and the excise duty on diesel by Rs 6 per litre. Since then, the price of gasoline and diesel has decreased. After that, diesel became cheaper by Rs 9.50 and Rs 7 per liter in the country. After the Centre’s announcement, the governments of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha and Kerala also reduced VAT.
Currently, petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per liter and diesel price is Rs 89.62 per litre. At the same time, petrol fetches Rs 106.31 and diesel Rs 94.27 per liter in Mumbai. While petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 and diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre. In contrast, in Chennai, petrol is available at Rs 102.63 and diesel at Rs 94.24.
