Meanwhile, the Indian government has started ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue Indians trapped in Ukraine. In this regard, Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla has shared many important information on Sunday.

“I called both the ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine separately, conveying my concerns over the safety of Indian nationals. I briefed about the places where Indian nationals are present. Both the ambassadors took note of our concerns and gave us the information about the Indian nationals. Assured the safety of the civilians,” he said.

“The Indian government has launched ‘multi-pronged’ Operation Ganga to rescue our citizens stranded in Ukraine. This return process will be at government expense. So far, under Operation Ganga, thousands of our citizens have been evacuated from Romani and Hungary and Another thousands have been evacuated from Ukraine by land routes. Flights have been arranged for them. Border crossings to Hungary and Romania have worked so far, however, the exit point to Poland is closed as millions of foreign nationals Those who are near the borders of Hungary and Romania are directed towards their border points in stages,” he said.

According to Shringla, “Our embassy in Kiev and our ministry issued several advisories before this situation happened. 4,000 of our citizens left before the conflict in accordance with this advice. We estimated that there are about 15,000 civilians left in Ukraine.” Since the airspace was closed in Ukraine, we identified land evacuation options from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Specific border crossing points were identified and teams were deployed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist in the evacuation process. ”
