Outcome of Police investigation will decide which agency should probe Bajrang Dal activist murder case: Karnataka CM

Bangalore: Amid demands for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the Bajrang Dal activist Harsha murder case, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said a decision in this regard would be taken based on the outcome of the police investigation.

“Several persons have been arrested and are being interrogated in the case related to Harsha’s murder in Shivamogga. The investigation is on. Based on the outcome of the investigation, we will decide which agency should be assigned the task of further investigation. ,” the Chief Minister said while talking to media persons here. He said that maintaining law and order along with investigation is the priority of his government and for this curfew is in force in Shivamogga.

Reacting to Congress leaders’ allegation that Harsh’s funeral was a government-sponsored event in violation of Section 144, Bommai said, “Congress leaders are used to government-sponsored programs in the past. Saying so on that basis.”

Responding to a question about his Delhi visit, the Chief Minister said that he has no such plans as of now.

Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B.M. Laxmi Prasad on Tuesday said that the state police have arrested a total of six people and are interrogating 12 in connection with the Bajrang Dal activist Harsha murder case.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of the district Selvamani R announced that Section 144 of CrPC has been extended for two more days till Friday morning.

A 26-year-old Bajrang Dal worker was allegedly murdered in Shivamogga on Sunday night. Security has been tightened in the city after the incident. (ANI)
