PM Modi flags off Gandhinagar’s ‘new’ Vande Bharat Express


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, has announced the new and improved version of the Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express today. Ushering in a new era of comfortable and improved train travel experience, the new Vande Bharat Express, the most awaited newly built semi-fast train, is now ready for service.

This train runs between Gandhinagar and Mumbai, connecting the state capitals of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Speaking about the features of this train, Sumit Thakur, CPRO, Western Railway Zone, said, “Vande Bharat Express offers many excellent amenities that provide passengers with a luxurious travel experience and advanced state-of-the-art safety features, including the Original Ingeniously Developed Train Collision Prevention System is also in place.”

These upgrades were incorporated in the new Vande Bharat Express

Thakur said that the train is equipped with bogies with a fully suspended traction motor capable of running at a speed of 160 kmph along with advanced state-of-the-art suspension to ensure a smooth and safe journey and better ride comfort for passengers.

Thakur further said that all the sections have seats while the leaders’ bus has 180-degree reciprocating seats.

He said: “Each coach has a 32” screen to provide information and information to passengers. Handicap accessible toilets and seat handles are also available in Braille.

Talking about other features of Vande Bharat Express, KK Thakur Loco Pilot of the train said, “The train has four platform side cameras outside the coach including reversing cameras.

The third Vande Bharat train in the country

This is the third Vande Bharat train in the country. Earlier this train has operated between New Delhi-Varanasi and New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. ICF has set a target of manufacturing 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2023.
