The four-day IDF WDS 2022, which will take place from 12 to 15 September, will be a gathering of global and Indian dairy stakeholders, including industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy makers, with the theme ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’, the Prime Minister said. Office (PMO) said.
Around 1,500 participants from 50 countries are expected to attend IDF WDS 2022. The last such summit was held in India about half a century ago in 1974.
India’s dairy industry is unique in that it is based on a cooperative model that empowers small and marginal milk producers, especially women, it states.
“Guided by the Prime Minister’s vision, the government has taken several steps to improve the dairy sector, which has led to an increase in milk production by over 44 percent in the last eight years,” the statement said.
IDF WDS 2022 showcases the success story of the Indian dairy industry, which accounts for about 23 percent of the world’s milk, produces about 210 million tonnes annually and empowers more than 8 million milk farmers.
The summit will also help Indian dairy farmers gain exposure to global best practices.
