Guided by the Prime Minister’s vision, India’s foreign policy has evolved to provide leadership on the global stage. In a significant step in this direction, India will take over the G20 presidency from December 1, 2022, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA).
The G20 Presidency offers India a unique opportunity to contribute to the global agenda on pressing issues of international concern. The logo, theme and website of our G20 Presidency would reflect India’s message and overarching priorities to the world.
The G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation, representing around 85 percent of global GDP, over 75 percent of world trade and about two-thirds of the world’s population.
Over the course of its G20 presidency, India will hold around 200 meetings in 32 different sectors in multiple locations across India. The G20 summit due to take place next year would be one of the most prominent international gatherings hosted by India.
