Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday wished India’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar on her 92nd birthday, saying her melodious voice resonates across the world.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday wished India’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar on her 92nd birthday, saying her melodious voice resonates across the world.

Describing her blessings as “a source of great strength”, she also prayed for the evergreen singer’s long and healthy life. PM Modi tweeted, “Happy birthday to respected Lata didi. Her melodious voice resonates across the world. She is respected for her humility and passion for Indian culture. Personally, her blessings are a source of great power. I pray for Lata didi’s long life. Healthy life.”

The veteran music star has been the background voice behind many artists in the Bollywood industry.

The ‘Nightingale of India’ who started her career in 1942 is a recipient of Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke awards.

She is known for iconic songs like ‘Aayega Aane Wala’, ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logan’ and ‘Babul Pyare’. He has sung over 25,000 songs in more than 20 Indian languages.
