New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation 35 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plants installed under PM CARES in 35 states and union territories at an event at AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand on Thursday.
With this, PSA oxygen plants will now be operational in all districts of the country, read a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
A total of 1224 PSA Oxygen Plants across India have been funded so far under PM CARES, out of which more than 1100 plants have been commissioned, providing an output of more than 1750 metric tonnes of oxygen per day.
“This is testimony to the proactive measures taken by the government to enhance India’s medical oxygen production capacity since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement said.
It further said that the project to commission one PSA oxygen plant in each district of the country was executed while tackling the “complex challenges of hilly areas, islands and areas with difficult terrain”.
More than 7,000 personnel have been trained for the operation and maintenance of these plants. It comes with an embedded Internet of Things (IoT) device for real time monitoring of their functioning and performance through a consolidated web portal.
