New Delhi: As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to increase career opportunities for Indian youth under the Skill India Mission, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is organizing the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) on May 8 in over 200 districts. country.

A number of local businesses and organizations have been invited to take part in this apprenticeship scheme to provide relevant apprenticeship opportunities for local young people. Many companies representing different sectors will participate in the event. Through a single platform, the participating organizations can contact potential students, choose their education on the spot, while strengthening the livelihood opportunities of young people.

Individuals can register for the mela by visiting https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/ and find the nearest location of the mela. The cand those from 5th grade to 12th grade passed out or having professional qualification certificate or having ITI certificate, degree or diploma can apply for this internship program. Candidates should bring three copies of their CV, three copies of all marks and certificates, photo ID (Aadhaar Card/Driving License etc.) and three passport size photographs to the respective venue.

The locations are also available on the apprenticeship mela portal (http://dgt.gov.in/appmela2022/). Those already enrolled are asked to arrive at the venue with all the necessary documents. With this Mela, the candidates also obtain certificates recognized by the National Vocational Training Council (NCVET), improving their employability rate after the training.

Speaking at the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela, Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship opined that to promote the development and growth of the country, apprenticeships should be prioritized to provide opportunities for work-based learning and exposure. as well as offering scholarships to young people while they study modeling.

This will act as a window to industry for apprentices, where they can earn a globally recognized certificate alongside industry-oriented training. The Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela is an excellent opportunity for Indian youth to interact with the industry and avail relevant apprenticeship opportunities. Also, the scheme is designed to cater to those who want to upskill/expand and progress in their careers, he added.

Apprenticeships are held nationwide on the second Monday of every month. In these melas, the selected persons are offered internship opportunities during which they are given a monthly stipend for acquiring new skills as per the government criteria. Apprenticeships are seen as the most sustainable model of skill development and have received a major boost under the Skill India Mission.

The government aims to train 15 lakh youth annually through apprenticeships and to fulfill this mission, PMNAM is an initiative to increase the participation of institutions and youth. In addition, it draws the attention of young people to the various opportunities of the participating companies.
