President Election 2022: TRS, AAP to skip Mamata Banerjee’s meeting


New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, who has been mobilizing opposition parties for the presidential election, has been dealt a big shock. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have declined to attend Mamata Banerjee’s meeting.

According to a report by news agency ANI, both parties will not attend the meeting of opposition parties convened by Mamata Banerjee. According to the agency, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to consider him after being declared the presidential candidate. Apart from this, Biju Janata Dal is also expected to attend the meeting.

Mamata Banerjee convened a meeting in Delhi

It is noteworthy that Mamata Banerjee has convened a meeting of opposition parties in Delhi today. The meeting will discuss the name of the candidate for the post of President from the Opposition. The Congress and Left parties will also take part in this meeting.

Ahead of the meeting, Mamata Banerjee met NCP president Sharad Pawar on Tuesday and discussed the strategy for the presidential election. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar also made it clear to Mamata that she is not willing to become the joint candidate of the opposition. A Maharashtra government minister had also said that Sharad Pawar was not interested in the presidency.

Presidential elections will be held on July 18

Significantly, the presidential election will be held on July 18. The election results will be announced on July 21. The nomination process for the presidential election is starting from Wednesday. Rajya Sabha General Secretary PC Modi has been made the Returning Officer. Special Operations Officer Mukul Pandey and Joint Secretary in Rajya Sabha Secretariat Surendra Tripathi have been made Assistant Returning Officers.
