President Mormo meets King Charles III before the Queen’s funeral


London: President Draupadi Mormo met King Charles III at a reception at Buckingham Palace on Sunday ahead of the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, which will be held today at Westminster Abbey in London.

President Mormo also signed the Book of Condolences for Queen Elizabeth II at Lancaster House in London.

“President Draupadi Murmo signed the Book of Condolences in Memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Lancaster House, London,” Rashtrapati Bhawan wrote on Twitter.

The President, on her own behalf and on behalf of the people of India, paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Hall in London where the Queen’s coffin is located in the state.

The former Head of State of the United Kingdom and Head of the Commonwealth of Nations died on 8 September at the age of 96.

The body of Queen Elizabeth II will be cremated later today at Westminster Abbey. Many world leaders and members of European royal families are arriving in Britain for the Queen’s funeral.

President Mormo arrived in London, Sunday morning, for her final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.

World leaders who will attend the funeral are: US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Ireland’s Taoiseach Michel Martin, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Niu. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
