India will start the G20 presidency on 1 December 2022. The G20 chairmanship provides a unique opportunity for India to contribute to the global agenda on pressing issues of international importance, a PMO release said.
India’s foreign policy is evolving to take on leadership goals
The logo, theme and website for India’s G20 chairmanship will reflect the country’s message and overall priorities to the world.
“Guided by the Prime Minister’s vision, India’s foreign policy has evolved to take a leading role on the global stage,” the release said.
The G20 is a forum for global economic cooperation
The G20 is the most important forum for international economic cooperation, representing about 85 percent of the world’s GDP, more than 75 percent of world trade and about two-thirds of the world’s population.
During the G20 chairmanship period, India organizes around 200 meetings in 32 different sectors at various locations across India.
The G20 summit to be held next year would be one of the high-profile international meetings hosted by India.
