New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the home of veteran BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday to wish him a happy 95th birthday.

“Visited Advaniji’s apartment and wished him a happy birthday; I pray to God for his good health and long life,” Singh tweeted.

Union Interior Minister Amit Shah also congratulated the senior BJP leader, saying that he made invaluable contributions to the country’s development during his reign.

Shah tweeted: “Wishing Respected LK Advani ji Happy Birthday. On the one hand, Advani ji strengthened the organization across the country with his continuous hard work, while on the other hand, he made invaluable contributions to the country’s development while he was in government. I pray to God for his good health and long life.”

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, who is currently in Moscow, congratulated Advani on his birthday.

he wrote: “Happy birthday greetings to Revered Shri LK Advani ji. His many contributions and services to the nation will always inspire us.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also paid Advani a visit to wish him a happy birthday.

“Birthday greetings to one of the leaders of the BJP, India’s political stalwart, fine man and veteran leader Sh LK Advani Ji,” said Union Minister for Oil and Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.

Advani, who was born in Karachi on November 8, 1927, served as Interior Minister in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government from 1998 to 2004. From 2002 to 2004 he was Deputy Prime Minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He is a senior leader of the BJP and one of its co-founders.

He began his political career as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteer. Advani received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, in 2015.
